Green initiative is a network of 22 organizations of civil society in Serbia, which will,in cooperation with Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) and with a financial support of US Agency for International Development (USAID), in the following 16 months, realize joint activities oriented towards development of functional mechanisms for stimulation of primary selection of waste at local and national level.

Main goals of Green initiative will be contribution to establishing a functional waste management system, within support in implementation of local and regional waste management plans, solving problems of individual collectors through establishment and development of three models of social entrepreneurship in the field of electrical, electronic and plastic waste, as well as their integration into existing networks of social entrepreneurship, and increased participation of all relevant actors in the field of collection of recycling materials with an emphasis on connecting citizens and recycling business sector.

In the course of the project it is planned to collect 4000kg of recycling materials and engage in action 3000 citizens, to bring recommendations that will be incorporated in the Memorandum of understanding concluded with 24 Local Self Governments, to provide conditions for permanent funding of programs which will support organized institutional operating of individual collectors of secondary raw materials, to establish cooperation with 6 recycling companies, to carry out 30 different activities which will involve 60 institutions at local level, to create a Youth Convent out of 30 members from 15 secondary schools in Serbia.
