We are inviting you to follow the activity of submitting waste paper on Tuesday, March 13, from 11 am to 2 pm at several locations in the city, which will be given to individual collectors of recycling materials and than shipped to the recycling facility.

Used office paper, which has been collected during past two weeks by Balkan Community Initiatives Fund, Center for modern skills, Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence, Young Researchers of Serbia, Institute for Sustainable Communities and Belgrade Cultural Center, will be handed over to individual waste collectors and with a help of Ekostar pak and Paper Service will be dispatched on the recycling plants. We expect that within this actions it will be collected approximately 100 kg of waste paper.

Green initiative aims to bring together citizens, institutions and businesses in the recycling area to collect recyclable materials, with the aim of improving  primary selection and recycling. This action will affect the development of habits of waste selection, and will help strengthening the network of individual collectors of  recycling materials in the waste management system.

To contribute to the legalization of individual collectors  work Green initiative will form three social enterprises during the next few months. In addition, Green initiative will work on creating financial conditions for the legalization of the collectors, through the allocation of funds through a public tender by the Fund for Environmental Protection of Serbia.

Individual collectors of recycling materials collect most of the waste that is currently being recycled in Serbia, according to estimates, approximately 75 percent. It is  estimated to have between 35,000 and 50,000 of individual collectors in Serbia. The comparative experience of countries in the region show that the legalization of individual collectors work quantity of collected recycling materials  increases by 20% and the capacity of the plant for processing recycled materials increases by 25%.
