BREAKING NEWS:

Over the weekend, within campaign Get Planet Wise! Recycle, Green Initiative and Green List of Serbia continued activities on collecting recyclable materials in Trstenik and Krusevac, and manage to collected nearly 5 tons of waste paper, 3 tons of tires, 1500 pounds of PET and 500 pounds of electronic and electrical waste, that was shipped to recycling facilities.

Ecological Movement “Moravski orašak” from Trstenik and Environmental Movement “Bela breza” from Krusevac, members of the Green List of Serbia, organized the above activities with the citizens, and its  implementation was provided by the Balkan Community Initiatives Fund (BCIF) in collaboration with the Institute for Sustainable Communities ( ISC) and the Young Researchers of Serbia and with funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

At the Youth Square and Art Salon in Trstenik on Friday, May 25, people were were bringing used plastics and electronic and electrical waste. The activity was supported by members of the Association of children with cerebral palsy in Trstenik, who held  an art workshop on recycling together with elementary school students “Miodrag Čajetinac Čaika”, at the Youth Square in Trstenik.

Green bus was parekd at the Square, where children of primary school presented environmental films.  At he Art Salon there were presented the results of collecting waste in the municipality of Trstenik, which preceded this event. Children from primary schools “Živadin Apostolović” and “Sveti Sava” from Trstenik, “Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj” from Stopanje were collecting waste paper, which was delivered to the recycling operator  “Recycling”, Trstenik.

Primary School Students “Rade Dodić” form  Milutovac collected from 3 tons rubber,  primary school “Ljubivoje Bajic” from the municipality and the “Velikat Drenova” from the Velika Drenova collected half a ton of electronic and electrical waste. The preschool children “Pearls” from Trstenik have contributed, by passing small electrical appliances and broken toys

On the next day, Get Planet Wise! Recycle activity was held in Krusevac in the House of Unions. Children from primary schools performed ecological performance and there was a fashion show of clothing from recycled materials.

In the same event there were awarded the best collectors in the campaign which included the following primary schools: “Brana Pavlović”  from Konjuh, “Dragomir Marković” from Kruševac, “Knez Lazar” from Veliki Kupci, “Strahinja Popović” from Dvorane, “Vladislav Savić Jan” from Parunovac, “Jovan Jovanović Zmaj” from Mudrakovac and “Despot Stefan”  frmo Gornji Stepoš, and students of those schools have collected more than 30,000 bottles of used plastic bottles that are shipped to recycling facility through the PUC “Krusevac”.

In the lobby of the House of Trade Unions an exhibition of objects from recycled materials and presentation of the machine for recycling wood waste created by the young Uros Kostic, elementary school student, “Pavlovic Dam” from Konjuh, was held.
