More than one ton (1.500 kg) of used office paper, which they have been collecting over  past two weeks, Balkan Community Initiatives Fund, Center for modern skills, Belgrade Fund for political Excellence, European Movement in Serbia,  Young researchers of Serbia, Institute for sustainable Communities, Standing conference of Towns and Municipalities, Student center Rifat Burdzevic and company Exterior Solution, gave to individual collectors today. Collected paper was then shipped to recycling facilities with the help of companies  Ekostar pak and Paper Service FHB.

Continuing activity that begun in March this year,  in which it was collected 1.3 tons of waste paper, Green initiative is strengthening the network of individual collectors in the waste management system, and also stimulates primary selection.

With this activity Green initiative continues connecting people, institutions and businesses in the recycling area to collect recyclable materials, aiming to improve recycling and primary selection.

To contribute to the legalization of individual collectors Green initiative began the establishment of three cooperatives in Belgrade (Cukaricka padina), Pozarevac and Gornji Milanovac, that will contribute to the organized and institutionalized work of individual collectors.

Comparative experience of countries in the region show that with legalization of work of individual collectors, quantity of collected recycling materials increases by 20% and the capacity of the plant for processing recycled materials increases by 25%.
