Competition for the most effective object made of waste within activity Get Planet Wise! is opened today on the website of the Green List of Serbia (www.oplanetise.com) and will be open until October 10, 2012. The competition was organized as a competition between schools and kindergartens in 12 cities in Serbia. Website visitors www.oplanetise.com will have the opportunity to vote for their favorites and enable the nominated schools and kindergartens to win valuable prizes.

Over the past five months, members of the network of local environmental organizations Green List of Serbia, in 12 cities (Backi Petrovac, Novi Sad, Krusevac, Trstenik, Raska, Upper Milanovac, Vranje, Vučje, Knjazevac, Nis, Pirot and Pine) have organized activities in which out of different types of waste useful object that have a new use value were made (flowerpot of cans, summer home of PET bottles, children’s games from the tires, etc.).

This activity was initiated by Balkan Community Initiatives Fund (BCIF) and Green List of Serbia in cooperation with Telenor Foundation and the Embassy of the Netherlands, within the campaign Get Planet Wise! Recycle.

Telenor Foundation has provided prizes for the winners in the form of Telenor Internet corner for the schools. BCIF will award a special prize for the most effective item of waste to the winners in the category of kindergarten. Prizes for the winners are:

- First  award: 5 laptops with provided Internet access for a year - Second Prize:  3 laptop with provided Internet access for a year - Third Prize: 2 laptops with provided Internet access for a year - Special Award in the category of kindergarten

Announcement of the winners and award prizes for the most effective objects from the waste will be organized at the beginning of November in Belgrade. After voting on the website www.oplanetise.com, final decision on the selection of the most effective object made of waste, will be brought by the jury on the basis of two criteria: usefulness for citizens  and communities in which the object is made and on the basis of aesthetic appearance of the object, considering results of online voting as well.
