Intensive Advocacy Retreat with Master Trainer Olga Gladkikh, from the Coady International Institute inroduced the group of Green initiative members into an ISC Advocacy Fellows Program. A two weeks Advocacy Program, that will be held in Vermont and Washington DC (United States of Amerika), will include numerous activities, workshops and meetings, that will focused on waste management and environmental issues.

During a program, a group of Green initiative members will visit a Highfields Center for Compositing in order to learn about it’s diverting organics from the Waste Stream process, they will be presented an successful example of advocacy campaign on Article 78 of Vermont’s first comprehensive solid waste management law from 1987, by the founder and a president of the ISC, George Hamilton, they will discuss on Zero Waste with two leading Vermont advocates, have a facility tour of a social enterprise in waste management, ReSource having kept more than 10.000 tones of materials from the landfill and employing a 50 who now have a secure income earned from this social enterprise, and a tour of Moretown Landfill that employs 10 people, pays an annual host fee of $550.000 to the city of Moretown and has a gas-to-energy plant that produces about 25.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per day.

Besides that, Green iniviative members will participate in an “Moving Planet” event, a climate action that will gather a coalition of businesses, nonprofit organizations and individuals concerned about the global warming on the Statehouse lawn in Montpelier, a capitol of a Green Mountain State, an promote a vision of green future for everyone.
