BREAKING NEWS:

Green initiative and Green list of Serbia, organized events in which over 1.300 citizens and schoolchildren collected 5 tons of waste paper, PET and EE waste, within Get Planet Wise! Recycle local activities in Knjazevac and Bor, which was later shipped to recycling facilities in cooperation.

Center for a Sustainable Future “Green Zone” Knjazevac and Society of Young Researchers of Bor, members of the Green List of Serbia, organized the above mentioned activities with the schoolchildren and citizens, and its realization was provided by the Balkan Community Initiatives Fund (BCIF) in cooperation with the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) ​​and the Young Researchers of Serbia and with funding from the U.S. Agency for international Development (USAID).

Mayor of Knjazevac Mr. Mladen Radosavljevic, with his presence supported this activity which started at the Memorial Park in Knjazevac where citizens were bringing old TV and radio sets, computer monitors and other electronic and electrical waste. Collection of waste paper and plastic packaging was also organized. Citizens and schoolchildren collected approximately 2 tons of recyclables, which was in shipped to recycling facilities in cooperation with companies E-recycling Zajecar (for EE waste), Umka, Nis branch  (for paper) and the PUC Standard (for PET).

Art works form recyclables, made by elementary school students from primary school „Dimitrije Todorovic Kaplar“ created during the recycling workshops were presented at Memorial Park. At the a concert  by Goodbye Bruce Lee form Novi Sad and Nablesnotesni from Knjazevac was held at the amphitheater of Cultural Center in Knjazevac.

Activity organized in Bor was held at several locations in the city. In elementary school “Dusan Radovic” after performance which was organized by students of the school, “Lamp” – an object made from recyclable materials and placed on the roof of the school, was presented. With its exceptional size and high-set position, this object made of waste, is glowing in the dark like a real lamp.

The program continued with costume ball parade which started from kinder garden “Bambi” and moved all up to the plateau in front of the Cultural Center. Besides, preschool children who were dressed in clothes made of recycled materials, a great number of primary school students and citizens join this parade. At the final destination of the parade, eco-robots were presented, whose appearance and broadcasted audio messages attracted great attention of all present, and mostly children. At the same location a basketball tournament was held. In order to participate in this tournament it was necessary to bring certain amount of cans or PET bottles.

During all these activities citizens of Bor have collected approximately 3 tons of recyclable materials that was shipped to recycling centers in cooperation with the PUC 3.oktobar (for PET), Stylos office (for paper) and the Computer Center Pine (for EE waste).
