BREAKING NEWS:

The first meeting of the Convent of youth on waste management and recycling, was held in Belgrade with the participation of 32 high school students from 16 towns in Serbia. School students who participate in the Convent of youth discussed on “Waste management and recycling” . Convent of youth is a part of the European Movement in Serbia activities within  Green initiative campaign.

The meeting was attended by secondary school (high school student members of parliaments, youth offices, civil society) from Belgrade, Novi Sad, Subotica, Sremska Mitrovica, Novi Pazar, Bečej, Krusevac, Valjevo, Zrenjanin, Nis, Sombor, Surdulica Pozarevac, Zajecar, Kraljevo and Kikinda.

The aim of the meeting was that young people exchange knowledge and experience in waste management and environmental protection, and to make concrete proposals for solving environmental problems in their local communities.

High school students had the opportunity to learn about the technical aspects of collection, treatment and disposal, they presented the economic potential of waste as raw materials, as well as types and examples of environmental projects, with special emphasis on the importance of activism and volunteerism in local communities. Through an interactive workshop  high school students were taught how to effectively use cans, plastic bottles, milk carton, and then use the same for any other purpose.

After the meeting, they could see a recycling yard Public Utility Company in Obrenovac, where they had a chance to hear and see how the process of waste separation and recycling process.
