Within environmental campaign Get Planet Wise! Recycle, more than 300 citizens of Backi Petrovac collected 5,5 tons of waste paper and PET, which was shipped to recycling facilities  in cooperation with companies Tehnopapir and Greentech Ltd.

Event that was held in elementary school “Jan Čajak” was organized by the Association “Green Circle” from Backi  Petrovac, a member of Green List of Serbia, and provided by  Balkan Community Initiatives Fund (BCIF) in cooperation with the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) ​​and the Young researchers of Serbia and with funding from the U.S. Agency for international Development (USAID).

Schoolchildren responded mostly to this activity.  They were bringing old paper and plastic packaging several days before as well as on the day of the event. Within the program event,   recycling workshops and environmental quizzes were organized, and all participants had the opportunity to see the exhibition of products from recycling materials.

By this action of collecting paper and PET citizens have set a message on the importance of recycling and its contribution to protecting environment, energy efficiency and saving raw materials. The event was also  supported by Mayor of Backi Petrovac, Mr.Vladimir Turan who was present at the event.
